Sometimes blackness is all there is.
No spark of creativity to be seen.
Ack! what a cliche and a waste of web space.

Viernes.
Woke up up this morning to my hair doing crazy things
Can't say that I wished it, but it turned out alright.
I've recently discovered my love for chocolate covered raisins.
I've been eating too many lately.
I have these ideas of how the world should be.
And honestly how I should be.
Not that I think these things aren't important.
But in the long run, who cares if I don't brush my hair?

All the single ladies...
I've discovered that when I am on my laptop a lot* the charger heats up like a toasty heater...
Sometimes on cold days like today I find myself maneuvering how I am sitting so that the plug can warm me up.
So yeah, I guess I spend a lot of time cuddling my computer's accessories.

*Studying...not facebook...I am so productive you know....

A List of Kindness
1. The lady at school letting me use her card to print some pages and calling me sweetheart when I thanked her.
2. The small white VW bug that let me over tonight when I was driving in the rain (and feeling scared to merge).
3. The man at Safeway yesterday who had a white beard and moved so that I could set down the zillions of things I was carrying before I dropped them.
4. The man who was parked next to me at Safeway who told me I could prop my cart on the mirror of his car so that it did not roll down the hill.
5. A friend who sent a post card from Japan just to say hello.
6. My teacher, who actually knows my name in a class with 50+ students.
7. The girl who let me go before her in line to talk to our adviser because my question was fast and I was going to be late to work, even though she was running late too.
8. My dad giving some chocolate from his secret stash when I was craving it.

You Belong To Me
Sometimes I imagine Amma singing this song to me....
You Belong to Me by Ben Taylor
See the pyramids along the Nile
Watch the sunset from a tropic isle
Just remember, darling, all the while
You belong to me
See the marketplace at old Algiers
Send me photographs and souvenirs
Just remember when your dream appears
You belong to me
I'll be so lonesome without you
So, maybe you'd be lonesome too
And blue
Fly the ocean in a silver plane
See the jungle when it's wet with rain
Just remember when you're home again
You belong to me
You belong to me

Shameless plug
I used to work for a company called Giddygiddy which makes hand made felt barrettes, or rather for the woman behind the adorable barrettes whose art and creative genius is so inspiring.
Today I pulled out the few of her barrettes I own and tried them with my "up do."
I think they look pretty awesome!

Check out her amazing blog with its Do-It-Yourself craft ideas and gorgeous photography:

Girls' education: A lifeline to development a report by UNICEF
That women might have the chance of a healthier and happier life should be reason enough for promoting girls' education. However, there are also important benefits for society as a whole. An educated woman has the skills, information and self-confidence that she needs to be a better parent, worker and citizen.
An educated woman is, for example, likely to marry at a later age and have fewer children. Cross-country studies show that an extra year of schooling for girls reduces fertility rates by 5 to 10 per cent. And the children of an educated mother are more likely to survive. In India, for example, the infant mortality rate of babies whose mothers have received primary education is half that of children whose mothers are illiterate.
An educated woman will also be more productive at work -- and better paid. Indeed, the dividend for educational investment is often higher for women than men. Studies from a number of countries suggest that an extra year of schooling will increase a woman's future earnings by about 15 per cent, compared with 11 per cent for a man.

The only thing that is
the most important that is
not the least I could say
I am willing to compromise of my beliefs is
the most important part of me is
the thing that I am is
never willing to stop being able to stop and
be able to stop and
see the world different in
a two second span of nothingness.
The butterfly unable to drink from the flower and
the trees lining a walkway of
homelessness and grim.
I am not willing to let go of this.

"I Like Giants" by Kimya Dawson
"When I go for a drive I like to pull off to the side
Of the road, turn out the lights, get out and look up at the sky
And I do this to remind me that I'm really, really tiny
In the grand scheme of things and sometimes this terrifies me
But it's only really scary cause it makes me feel serene
In a way I never thought I'd be because I've never been
So grounded, and so humbled, and so one with everything
I am grounded, I am humbled, I am one with everything
Rock and roll is fun but if you ever hear someone
Say you are huge, look at the moon, look at the stars, look at the sun
Look at the ocean and the desert and the mountains and the sky
Say I am just a speck of dust inside a giant's eye
I am just a speck of dust inside a giant's eye..."

The Girl Effect- Start the Revolution.
The Millennium Development Goals (MDG) are development objectives that were adopted by the United Nations and world leaders in 2000 that state specific goals to be achieved by the year 2015 in order to eradicate poverty. The second goal of the MDGS is to achieve universal primary education. The third goal is to promote gender equality and empower women. Studies have shown that providing education to women not only uplifts the individual but also affects the entire community at large. Furthermore the other MDGs such as improve maternal health care and reduce child mortality are also largely affected by the education of women. Educating women will make the difference in eradicating poverty and achieving the MDGs.
